Hand-picked
Today, tools like sticks, picks and fan-shaped rakes, which also have a built-in vibration system, are used to harvest olives by hand. Olives can also be harvested by shaking the branches carefully so that the olives fall into a net placed on the ground around the tree. The nets used today are made from a type of synthetic mesh and are usually green.
Shakers
Using shakers to harvest olives employs mechanical devices that are operated with tractors to either shake the branches of the tree or shake the trunk through hooks that are attached to the trunk.
Harvester
This is the most widespread technique used on large-scale farms. Harvesters lower costs on the one hand while speeding up the harvest on the other.
